Golf Closes Out the Fall in D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The DePaul men’s golf team closes out the fall portion of its schedule at the 28th Annual Georgetown Intercollegiate, October 22-23 at The Members Club at Four Streams.
The 12-team field includes BIG EAST Conference foes Georgetown and Notre Dame while Eastern Michigan, Miami (Ohio), Michigan State, Notre Dame, Penn State, St. Joseph’s, Toledo, West Florida, William & Mary and Xavier round out the field.
The Members Club at Four Streams was designed by PGA Tour veteran Nick Price and famed golf architect Steve Smyers. The par-71, 7,102-yard course while it is widely considered one Maryland’s finest golf facilities. The field will tee off on Monday morning at 8 a.m. (ET) and play 36 holes, with the final 18 holes starting on Tuesday at 8 a.m.
DePaul’s lineup will include Moritz Ackerhans, Russell Budd, Moritz Hausweiler, Jan Juelicher and John Pavelko while Alex Lloyd will compete as an individual in this tournament.
On the year, Budd leads the Blue Demons with his 75.78 stroke average and carded a season-best round of 72 at the Ram Master Invitational to open the season.
Last season, Ackerhans and Budd finished tied for 13th while the Blue Demons finished sixth at the Georgetown Intercollegiate. Both Budd and Ackerhans finished nine over. Budd’s best round came one day one, when he was two under for the second round. Ackerhans carded rounds of 71, 73 and 76.
Following the Georgetown Intercollegiate, the Blue Demons break until February when they participate in the Match Play, Feb. 11-12 at the Reunion Resort which is also the site of the 2012 BIG EAST Championship in April.
