Golf in Sixth Place After Day One of BIG EAST-MAC Challenge



First and Second Round Results

WINTER GARDEN, Fla.- Freshman Greg Doherty holds a tie for third place in the individual standings and DePaul sits at sixth in the team standings after day one of the BIG EAST-MAC Challenge.  The tournament, hosted by Marquette, concludes with a final round of 18 holes on Sunday at the Orange County National Golf Center.

 

Doherty carded rounds of 70 and 72 to sit two under par and two strokes off the lead with a score of 142.  He finds himself at an even pace with Blake Sattler of Akron and Grant Christman of Ohio.  Sophomore Colin Piercy ranks second for the Blue Demons with a score of 149 in a tie for 24th place. 

 

DePaul carries a combined team score of 594 to stand seven strokes behind BIG EAST rivals St. John’s and Villanova.

 

Ben Sieg of Marquette leads the field of individuals with a score of 140 while Akron sits atop the team standings with a combined score of 576.

 

Tomorrow’s final round begins at 6:00 a.m. (CST).
