Men's Golf Signs John Pavelko to a National Letter of Intent
CHICAGO - DePaul men’s golf coach Betty Kaufmann announced today that John Pavelko has signed a National Letter of Intent for next season. The Chanhassen, Minn., native joins the program in the Fall of 2009.
“John will be a great addition to the team,” said Kaufmann. “His length off the tee along with his competitive experience will be an asset to our program.”
Pavelko placed fifth at the Minnesota Section Junior PGA Championships in July with even rounds of 72 at Breezy Point Resort GC and Deacon’s Lodge GC. He earned a spot in the championships after winning his qualifier with a round of 71 at Valleywood GC in Apple Valley, Minn.
Chaska High School placed fourth in Class 3A at the Boys’ State Golf Tournament in June. Pavelko finished as the highest-finishing junior, and eighth overall, at the state tournament with a total of 147. The two-day championship was played at the East and West Courses at Bunker Hills GC in Coon Rapids, Minn. He carded a 36 on each course in the first day of action and totaled a 37 on the East Course and a 38 on the West Course in the final day of play.
The Blue Demons open the Spring season in mid-February at the UTSA Oak Hills Classic in San Antonio, Texas.
