CHICAGO - The DePaul men's soccer team picked up its second win of the 2017 season against Drake on Friday afternoon as the Blue Demons used three goals, two in the first half and one in the second, to pull out the 3-1 win.

DePaul (2-3) struck first in the seventh minute to take an early 1-0 lead.  Advancing into Drake territory on a counter-attack, freshman midfielder Istvan Wilhelms found Timmy Iscra making a run through the goal box. Iscra received Wilhelms' touch off his chest and tapped the one-timer in the bottom right corner of the net.

In the 20th minute, Wilhelms gave the Blue Demons a two-goal edge as he spun past a Drake defender and unleashed a right-footed blast from the right side of the box into the upper left-hand corner for the second Blue Demon goal of the afternoon.

DePaul went into the intermission leading the Bulldogs 2-0. In addition to outscoring the visitors in the opening half, the Blue Demons also outshot Drake 8-3.

In the 70th minute, DePaul added a final insurance goal to its tally, pulling ahead 3-0. The advantage came courtesy of Philipp Konigstein who collected his own rebound off a point-blank shot and finished the touch into the bottom right-hand corner of the net. The goal tied Konigstein for the team lead with Wilhelms at three goals on the season. Sasa Labovic started the chance for the Blue Demons, finding Zach El-Shafei up the left sideline of the pitch. El-Shafei tapped a cross into the middle of the box where Konigstein connected for the score.

Drake (0-4) cut DePaul's lead to 3-1 in the 84th minute as Ryan Meredith finished a touch from Alex Andersen. Two minutes later, a DePaul foul in the box set up another opportunity for the Bulldogs; however, the defense wall held tight as Anton Sell blocked the attempt, clearing the point-blank shot out of the box.

The Blue Demons maintained offensive possession for the final three minutes of the match to pull out the 3-1 win.

DePaul will be back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 12 as the Blue Demons travel to Indianapolis to face IUPUI at 6 p.m.
