Box Score

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The DePaul men’s soccer team captured its second consecutive win on Tuesday evening as the Blue Demons edged IUPUI 2-1.

DePaul (3-3) jumped on the board first in the 10th minute of play as Philipp Konigstein landed an unassisted strike from 20 yards out to give the Blue Demons the 1-0 edge.  Konigstein intercepted a throw-in by the Jaguars and charged towards the box, firing off a right-footed hook shot that curved into the lower right-hand corner of the net.

Thirty-two minutes into the contest, IUPUI (0-4) landed the equalizer.  The Jaguars received a corner kick from Cameron Petersen to the middle of the box. Uriel Macias then fired off a shot that was blocked by the Blue Demon backline but was rebounded by Tommy Patacca who flipped the bouncer in for the tying goal.

Just two minutes into the second half, the Blue Demons were fouled on an offensive run towards the box, setting up a free kick just outside the 18.  Konigstein lined up the kick and placed his second goal of the match into the upper right corner of the net to give DePaul a 2-1 advantage and eventual win. With his two goals on Tuesday, Konigstein now leads DePaul in scoring with five goals in 2017.

The Blue Demons will return to action on Saturday as DePaul opens BIG EAST play on the road against Providence.  First touch from Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium is slated for 6 p.m.
