Box Score

CHICAGO - The DePaul men's soccer team was edged 2-0 by its crosstown rival Northwestern on a wet and chilly Wednesday afternoon in what was a very physical match that witnessed 33 fouls, five yellow cards, and one red card.

DePaul (4-7-1) led the offensive charge in the first half, outshooting the Wildcats 7-3.

In the 52nd minute, Northwestern (4-9) took a 1-0 lead over DePaul with a successful penalty kick by Camden Buescher.  The shot was set up by a Blue Demon foul on the edge of the box.

Ten minutes later, DePaul narrowly missed the equalizer as a point-blank shot by Sasa Labovic was deflected by the glove save of the Wildcats' goalkeeper.

Later in the second half, Northwestern scored an insurance goal in the 68th minute to seal the 2-0 victory over the Blue Demons. Mac Mazzola gathered a bouncing ball in the box and sent right-footed strike into the left side of net to notch the second and final Wildcat goal of the night.

The Blue Demons resume BIG EAST play on Saturday, Oct. 14 as DePaul travels to Indianapolis, Ind., to face No. 20 Butler at 6 p.m.  The match will be broadcasted live on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
