Men's Soccer Announces 2003 Schedule
CHICAGO – DePaul men’s soccer Craig Blazer announced today the schedule for the upcoming 2003 season. After posting the program’s best home record last season, the club will play eight matches at Wish Field this season.
The 2003 campaign opens with the first of two tournaments at Northwestern. DePaul takes on Evansville and Vanderbilt in the North Shore Classic in Evanston on Aug. 30-31. The second tourney at Northwestern is set for Sept. 12 and 14. The Blue Demons play Lafayette before matching up with host Northwestern in the Lakefront Classic.
The home opener at Wish Field is scheduled for Sept. 5 against Drake. It will be part of a DePaul doubleheader as the women’s team hosts Toledo in their first home match after the men’s game. Following the match with Drake, the Blue Demons go on the road for five consecutive games.
Detroit is the first stop on the road trip on Sept. 7 followed by the Conference USA opener at Marquette on Sept. 10. After the Lakefront Classic on Sept. 12 and 14, DePaul takes the short trip to Loyola to play the Ramblers on the 24th.
September wraps up where it started with a home match at Wish Field. DePaul continues the local flavor as they host Illinois-Chicago on Sept. 27.
In October, Wish Field will become familiar as six of nine matches will be on DePaul’s home turf. Northern Illinois is the first of three straight home games on the first of the month. C-USA foes Louisville and Saint Louis come to Chicago on the 4th and 8th, respectively.
Following two road games at Memphis and UW-Green Bay, DePaul plays three of the final four October matches at Wish Field. After hosting Charlotte on Oct. 18, the club travels to Wisconsin for the final road game and non-conference match of the season on the 22nd. The month finishes with home games against UAB and East Carolina.
The regular season ends with a pair of road matches at Cincinnati and South Florida. Memphis is the site of the 2003 Conference USA Tournament. It takes place, Nov. 13-16.
