Men's Soccer Adds Fifth Signee

CHICAGO - DePaul men's soccer coach Craig Blazer recently announced the signing of Greg Brinkman to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Blue Demons next season.  Brinkman is the fifth member of Blazer's first recruiting class.

The four-year starter at Geneva High School led his team to a 92-8-8 record.  As a senior, he was named team MVP and also garnered All-Area and All-Sectional mention as a junior and senior.  With the Strikers Fox Valley Soccer Club, Brinkman helped lead them to the 2001 Cocoa Expo Cup Championship and 2000 USA Cup Championship.

Known as a strong defender, Brinkman is also a standout in the classroom.  He is ranked eighth of 321 in his senior class and is a member of the National Honor Society.  Brinkman will join Bob Beard (Orland Park, Ill.), Mike Fenton (Bradenton, Fla.), Adam Hermsen (Rockford, Ill.) and Mike Timlin (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) in Lincoln Park this fall.

"Our fifth signee, Greg Brinkman, is another top-notch student-athlete," said Blazer.  "His strong academic and athletic background gives him the foundation for success at DePaul.  I am looking forward to getting Greg, our other newcomers and our returning players together in August."
