Men's Soccer Adds Three to 2007 First-Year Class
CHICAGO – DePaul men's soccer coach Craig Blazer announced that three student-athletes have accepted offers of admission to DePaul University and are set to join the men's soccer program this season. John Jandl, Kris Linney and Charlie Mancuso begin their collegiate soccer careers this fall at Wish Field. "I would like to officially welcome three incoming student-athletes and their families to DePaul University as they join four other incoming freshmen to the 2007 DePaul men’s soccer team," said Blazer. "We are excited that John Jandl, Kris Linney and Charlie Mancuso will represent our freshmen class as begin our third season in the BIG EAST Conference." Jandl heads north to Chicago from Mission Hills, Kan., where he played at Shawnee Mission-East High School. As team captain, Jandl was named second team Class 6A All-State by the Topeka Capital-Journal. He played club soccer for the Kansas City Legends. Linney plays at DePaul this fall along with New Trier teammate Andre Gutierrez. Linney and Gutierrez led New Trier to its first state title in boy's soccer in 2006. In addition to playing for New Trier, Linney also plays club soccer for Schwaben A.C. He picked up All-Sectional honors following the state championship. Mancuso plays for the nationally-recognized Chicago Magic Soccer Club and finished his career at Nequa Valley by earning All-Upstate Eight Conference honors. He was also named to the IHSSCA All-State squad and was selected for the IHSSCA Soccer Plus Senior Classic. "John is a left-footed defender who is a hard working and intelligent," said Blazer. "Kris is a versatile player who has good speed and an outstanding competitor. Charlie is a strong defender/midfielder who is an outstanding competitor. These student-athletes have been very successful and we look forward to their continued academic and athletic success."
