July 5, 2012
CHICAGO – In anticipation of the 2012 season, DePaul men’s soccer coach Craig Blazer has released his squad’s schedule for the upcoming year.
Following three road exhibition matches against Michigan, Northern Illinois, and Milwaukee, respectively, the Blue Demons open up the season at home on August 24 and 1 p.m. against UIC as a part of a men’s and women’s doubleheader (the DePaul women are scheduled to play at 4 p.m.).
The season opener marks the first of three home matches for DePaul to begin the year. The following Wednesday, August 29, the Blue Demons welcome Western Illinois for a noon matchup before taking on Western Michigan on Saturday, September 1 at 1 p.m.
The Blue Demons then travel to SIU-Edwardsville on September 7 for a 6 p.m. contest. Tuesday, September 11 marks DePaul’s home match against cross-town foe Loyola at 3 p.m. DePaul then returns to the road for what is sure to be a tough test against Ohio State in Columbus.
Back at Wish Field on September 19, DePaul welcomes Drake to Lincoln Park for a noon contest. Following away matches at Marquette—DePaul’s BIG EAST Conference opener—and Northwestern, DePaul returns home for a September 29 match against St. John’s at 1 p.m. The St. John's match will also serve as Blue Demon Alumni Day.
DePaul begins October with a match at Louisville on the third of the month. The Blue Demons return to Wish Field on October 6 for a contest against Villanova before Valparaiso comes to town on October 9.
After a close match against Rutgers last season, the Blue Demons head to New Brunswick, N.J., to face off against the Scarlet Knights on their turf on October 12. October 17 sees DePaul take on Cincinnati at home before it heads to Syracuse for its final road contest on October 20.
Prior to BIG EAST Championship play, the Blue Demons' last match of the regular season, and DePaul’s senior day, comes on Friday, October 25 against perennial contender USF at 1 p.m.
