DePaul Men's Soccer Releases 2010 Schedule
July 6, 2010
CHICAGO - DePaul will hit the ground running, opening its 2010 men's soccer season against NCAA Championship qualifier Green Bay.
That Sept. 1 road game is the first of seven matches against programs that competed in the 2009 NCAA tournament.
The Blue Demons will also face NCAA quarterfinalist Drake and NCAA tournament teams Northwestern, USF, Louisville, St. John's and Western Illinois.
Looking to qualify for its fifth-straight BIG EAST Championship, coach Craig Blazer's team will have six home matches against conference opponents. In 2009, DePaul only had a total of seven games overall in Lincoln Park.
Beginning with the Sept. 5 home opener against Florida International, the Blue Demons will have 10 home games in their renovated stadium now called Wish Field at Cacciatore Stadium.
Near the end of the regular season, they will have a stretch with four of five BIG EAST games at home---facing USF on Oct. 13, Providence on Oct. 16, St. John's on Oct. 23 and Cincinnati on Oct. 27.
Those four home-field matches could be critical to DePaul's chances of advancing to the BIG EAST Championship tournament. The Blue Demons finish up the regular season at Rutgers.
The 2010 schedule also features matches against in-state opponents Northwestern, Northern Illinois, Western Illinois, Loyola and Eastern Illinois.
