CHICAGO - The DePaul men's soccer program will kick off the 2017 season on Sunday as the Blue Demons welcome Western Michigan to Wish Field for an exhibition scrimmage at 4 p.m.  The match will provide some perception for coach Craig Blazer and his staff on their squad's strengths while giving them the opportunity to identify areas for improvement prior to the Blue Demons' first regular season match.

DePaul will enter the 2017 season returning six of its starters from the 2016 season in which the Blue Demons went 9-7-3, posting a 4-5-0 mark in BIG EAST play. The Blue Demons dropped a 3-1 penalty kicks decision to Villanova in the opening round of the BIG EAST tournament to end the 2016 season.

Led by 2016 BIG EAST All-Rookie Team selection Max de Bruijne and veterans Quentin Low and Caleb Pothast, DePaul will battle for a spot in the BIG EAST tournament in November.

Western Michigan will prepare the Blue Demons for a challenging 2017 schedule. The Broncos finished the 2016 season with a record of 9-6-4, going 1-1-3 in the Mid-American Conference play.

During the two squad's 2016 exhibition action, the Blue Demons were edged by the Broncos 2-0 in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Following Sunday's match, Blazer's side will have one final home exhibition against Western Illinois on Aug. 19 before traveling to Dekalb, Ill., to face Northern Illinois in the Blue Demons' season-opener on Friday, Aug. 25.

DePaul returns to Wish Field for their regular season home opener on Sept. 1 against La Salle (Pa.) at 4:00 p.m.

Season tickets are on sale now for $30 and can be purchased by contacting the DePaul Ticket Office at 773-325-7526.
