CHICAGO – On the heels of a 2-1 victory over UIC to open its 2012 campaign, the DePaul men’s soccer team looks to improve to 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon when it takes on Western Illinois at noon at Wish Field.

With reigning BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Week Thiago Ganancio in tow, the Blue Demons welcome the Leathernecks to Lincoln Park. Ganancio, who notched both of DePaul’s goals in the opener, was honored by the league on Monday for his efforts.

If DePaul improves to 2-0, it will be the first time since 2007 when it opened the season with four straight victories. That squad, which included current Blue Demon assistant coach Mark Plotkin, finished the season 12-8-0 and with an NCAA Tournament appearance.

The Blue Demons faced off with their counterparts from the Summit League last season with a less-than-favorable result as they fell 4-0 at the Leathernecks’ home field in mid-September.

Fans can follow along on Gametracker or BlueTube during the contest. Following the match, DePaul then welcomes Western Michigan to Wish Field on Saturday at 1 p.m.
