EVANSTON, Ill. – In the season-opener for both teams, the Evansville Purple Aces topped the DePaul men’s soccer team, 1-0, at the North Shore Classic in Evanston. Ian McAuley scored the match’s only goal in the 29th minute in the first of two games at the Abbot Sports Complex at Northwestern.
McAuley took a pass from teammate Don Broxup and scored at 28:56. From that point, the stingy Evansville defense didn’t allow the Blue Demons an opportunity to tie the match.
DePaul looks to even their record on Sunday as they take on the Vanderbilt Commodores at noon. The match is the first of two games in the final day of the North Shore Classic.
