CHICAGO – After coming within inches of tying its Wednesday match against Western Illinois, the DePaul men’s soccer team looks to rebound on Saturday afternoon when it takes on Western Michigan at Wish Field in a 1 p.m. matchup.
Hosting the undefeated Broncos (3-0-0), the Blue Demons are poised to make a statement in nonconference action. With three goals in two games, DePaul will need to up its offense against a Western Michigan squad that has produced nine goals in just three matches.
Through two matches, sophomore Thiago Ganancio holds as DePaul’s leading goal-scorer with two and is the current BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Freshman defender Brian Hindle picked up his first collegiate goal on Wednesday while sophomore David Selvaggi leads DePaul in assists with two. Junior Zach Forbes also earned his first assist of the season on Wednesday. He also leads the Blue Demons in shots (six) and shots on goal (three).
On the other side of the ball, the Blue Demons have surrendered just three goals to their opposition so far this year. The Broncos’ defense has been even stingier, however, allowing just one goal in the 2012 campaign.
