Blue Demon Soccer Drops Conference USA Opener
The DePaul men's soccer team lost the league opener on September 10 by a score of 3-1 at Charlotte. The Blue Demons took the early lead on Shane Hudson's first goal of the year, but allowed three Charlotte goals in the second half.
Hudson scored the game's first goal in the 17th minute on a breakaway from Sean Fitzpatrick. It was Hudson's second goal of the year and Fitzpatrick's first assist.
The Blue Demons held the 1-0 advantage until Charlotte scored goals in the 49th and 52nd minute to take a 2-1 lead. The final goal for the 49er's came at 71:45 mark.
Goalkeeper Jash Chavero tallied six saves in goal while DePaul was outshot 17-6 by Charlotte.
The Blue Demons will be on the road once again as they travel to Drake on September 13. Next weekend, DePaul will travel to Jacksonville, Florida for the Jacksonville Tournament. In the tournament, the Blue Demons will play the host Dolphins and Florida Atlantic.
