CHICAGO - On Saturday, the Blue Demons will kick off BIG EAST play on the road against Providence.  The Blue Demons are off to a 3-3 start in 2017 after winning back-to-back matches against Drake and IUPUI.

DePaul, who finished with a 4-5 mark in BIG EAST play in 2016, still has three non-conference opponents remaining on its 2017 schedule as the Blue Demons welcome Bradley (Sept. 20) and Northwestern (Oct. 11) to Wish Field before paying a visit to crosstown rival Loyola on Oct. 17.

On Monday, sophomore Sasa Labovic was tabbed as the BIG EAST's Defensive Player of the Week for his individual effort against Drake on Sept. 8.  Currently, senior Philipp Konigstein leads DePaul in scoring and points on the season, tally five goals while posting 12 points.

Against IUPUI on Tuesday, Konigstein guided the Blue Demons to a 2-1 victory as he netted both of DePaul's goals in the match.  The win marked head coach Craig Blazer's 100th career victory.

Providence is off to a 2-3 start in 2017.  In 2016, the Friars, who finished with a 15-7 record while going 7-2 in BIG EAST play, advanced to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals before falling to College Cup finalist UNC.  This season, Providence opened the year with back-to-back loses to ACC foes No. 4 UNC (4-2) and No. 2 Wake Forest (4-1).  The Friars then captured consecutive wins against Rhode Island (2-1, 2OT) and Bryant (3-0) before falling to Harvard 2-1 in their last match on Sept. 9.

Through five matches, forward Mac Steeves, who received BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognition on Monday, has been the Friars' go-to as he has accumulated nine points on three goals and three assists.  Providence has had seven different Friars score in 2017, tallying nine goals.  Colin Miller has posted a 2-1 record in goal for PC, making 14 saves while allowing three goals in three contests.

Providence leads the all-time series with DePaul 4-0-2, winning the last meeting against the Blue Demons 2-1 on Oct. 22, 2016.

First touch from Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium is set for 6 p.m.
