Men's Soccer Tops Evansville

DAYTON, Ohio – The DePaul men’s soccer team snapped a four-match losing streak with a 2-1 win over Evansville in the opening match of the Dayton Flyer Classic.  Patrick Vyncke scored both goals to lead the Blue Demons with a header in each half.

In the first half, Vyncke scored on a diving header off a corner kick.  Julian Chill set up the play and found a streaking Vyncke at 34:27.  For Chill, it was his fourth assist of the season.

Just before halftime, the Purple Aces tied the match when Chris Binder beat DePaul keeper Michael Timlin at 43:40.  Cory Elenio was credited with the assist as he centered the ball to Binder who found the back of the net.

Vyncke struck again with his fourth goal of the season.  This time it was a Kevin Bissett free kick into the middle that Vyncke sent home to the left side of the goal.  For Vyncke, it is his second career multi-goal game.

Evansville (1-3-1) outshot the Blue Demons, 17-10, in the match, but the Purple Aces managed just four attempts in the second half.

DePaul (2-4-1) plays Wright State on Sunday at noon EST.  It will be the third game of the Dayton Flyer Classic with Evansville and host Dayton playing at 2:30 p.m.
