DePaul to Host Drake on Wednesday Afternoon
Sept. 18, 2012
CHICAGO - Following a tight match on Friday night at Ohio State, the DePaul men's soccer team returns to its home turf on Wednesday when it hosts Drake for a noon start at Wish Field.
Despite a late goal from sophomore Thiago Ganancio, his team-leading third of the season, the Blue Demons (2-4-0) couldn't complete the comeback against the Buckeyes on Friday and instead look to rebound on Wednesday against the Bulldogs.
Of DePaul's six matches this season, five have been decided by just one goal. The only exception came with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of No. 22 SIU-Edwardsville. Drake, on the other hand, is coming off back-to-back 1-0 losses to drop its record to 1-6-1 on the season. The Bulldogs' only victory came in a 3-1 win against Loyola, who DePaul also defeated 2-1 last Tuesday.
On the offensive side of the ball, Ganancio holds the most points for the Blue Demons with six. Behind him, Antonio Aguilar, Brian Hindle, Brian Schultz, and Michael Kozielek have amassed two points each.
Defensively, senior goalkeeper Eric Sorby has played in all 540 minutes for the Blue Demons so far this season and has yielded 10 goals in that span, giving him a 1.67 goals-against average.
