Blue Demons Host Northwestern



The DePaul Blue Demons return to Wish Field for just their second home match of the season on Wednesday against Northwestern.

The Blue Demons are looking for their first victory of the 2000 season after dropping a pair of matches at the JU Nike Legends Classic in Jacksonville, Fla. last weekend.

THE BLUE DEMONS
The DePaul Blue Demons are 0-6 on the season. Three of the six losses have been by one goal, including the last two matches.

Chris Greer and Shane Hudson lead the Demons offensively with a pair of goals each. They also have one assist each. Robert Marshall has scored two goals via penalty kicks.

Goalkeeper Jash Chavero has a 2.94 goals against average in six matches. He has tallied a Conference USA leading 47 saves while allowing 18 goals.

THE WILDCATS
Northwestern enters Wednesday's match with a record of 0-6. The Wildcats lost, 3-2, to Northern Illinois in their last match. Jun Kim leads the team with two goals.

Common opponents with the Blue Demons include Eastern Illinois and Drake. The Wildcats lost, 6-1, to Eastern Illinois and, 3-2, at Drake.

THE SERIES
In the all-time series, Northwestern leads DePaul, 9-6-1. The Blue Demons have won the last two meetings. In both matches the scores were 3-1.

Last season, the Blue Demons took advantage of an own goal in the first half and a pair of second-half goals in the victory.

LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, the Blue Demons headed south for the JU Nike Legends Classic. Besides playing two matches in consecutive days, DePaul also had to worry about oncoming Hurricane Gordon.

In the first match against Jacksonville, the Blue Demons held a 2-1 lead at halftime before giving up the tying goal in the 78th minute. The game stayed in a deadlock until the Dolphins scored in the first overtime period at 101:36.

Sunday's match was a battle as Florida Atlantic defeated DePaul, 1-0. The match was scoreless until the 81st minute of play. Goalkeeper Jash Chavero tallied six saves for DePaul.

HALF AND HALF
In the six matches this season, the Blue Demons have outscored opponents, 3-2, in the first half. After halftime, opponents have scored 16 times compared to just four times for DePaul.

The Blue Demons have scored first in three of the six matches this season. They also held a 2-0 lead in the Drake and Jacksonville matches before losing.
