Men's Soccer Makes First Appearance in National Rankings
CHICAGO On the heels of a 1-0 win over then-No. 2 Connecticut, the DePaul men's soccer team earned its first national ranking this week. The Blue Demons rocketed up the Soccer America top 25 and settled at No. 17 in this week's poll. DePaul's 5-1-0 record is the best start in school history with each of the five victories coming via a shutout. DePaul is one of six BIG EAST programs in this week's Soccer America rankings. Notre Dame stands at No. 2 followed by Connecticut at No. 3. West Virginia, who the Blue Demons play on Friday night in Morgantown, are ranked 14th in this week poll followed by USF at No. 25. The Blue Demons travel to West Virginia on Friday before playing at Pittsburgh on Sunday afternoon. The win over Connecticut started a span of five games in which the Blue Demons play three ranked teams. After a Oct. 6 match at Cincinnati, DePaul travels to No. 5 Northwestern on Oct. 10.
