Men's Soccer Travels To Saint Louis For C-USA Match

The DePaul Blue Demons travel to Saint Louis for a midweek match with the Billikens. The kickoff at Robert R. Hermann Stadium is set for 7 p.m.

The Blue Demons are in the midst of six straight road matches. They have played just one home match this season. Last Wednesday's scheduled match with Northwestern was canceled because of inclement weather.

After traveling to Saint Louis, DePaul will play six of the nine remaining regular-season matches at Wish Field.

The Blue Demons
The DePaul Blue Demons are 0-7 on the season. Three of the seven losses have been by one goal, including the two of the last three matches.

Shane Hudson leads the Demons offensively with two goals and two assists. Chris Greer and Robert Marshall have scored a pair of goals this season.

Goalkeeper Jash Chavero has a 3.54 goals against average in seven matches. He has tallied 50 saves while allowing 25 goals.

The Billikens
Saint Louis enters Wednesday's match with a record of 3-2-1. The Blue Demons are Saint Louis' first Conference USA opponent of the year.

The Billikens, 1999 C-USA Co-Champions, are led by forwards Joe Jewsbury and Brad Davis. Jewsbury leads the team with six goals while Davis has tallied three scores.

Head coach Bob Warming is in his fourth season at Saint Louis. He owns a career record of 256-134-35 in 24 years of coaching.

The Series
In the all-time series, Saint Louis leads, 9-0-0. The Billikens won the meeting last year, 2-1, in Chicago.

The Blue Demons have lost the last three matches by a single goal. In 1997, Saint Louis won, 2-1, in overtime and in 1998, it took two overtime periods to win, 3-2.

Last Time Out
The Blue Demons lost at UAB on Sunday, 7-0. After trailing 2-0 at halftime, DePaul allowed five second-half goals. In the match, the Blazers outshot the Blue Demons, 22-5.

Half and Half
In the seven matches this season, the Blue Demons have played even with their opponents in the first half. In the first 45 minutes, opponents have scored four times while DePaul has three goals. After halftime, opponents have scored 20 times compared to just four scores for DePaul.

Head Coach Tom Secco
In his second season, Tom Secco owns a 7-15-0 record. In 1999, he lead the Blue Demons to the most wins since 1996. It also marked the fourth time since 1982 that a DePaul soccer team had won at least seven matches in a season.

Prior to DePaul, Secco compiled over 100 victories at Triton Junior College in River Grove, Illinois. His Triton teams won seven straight Region IV Championships and made two appearances in the NJCAA National Championships in 1988 and 1989.

In addition to coaching at DePaul, Secco also serves as an Adjunct Professor of English and the Bridge Program at DePaul. Since 1991, he has been a Professor of the Humanities in the Scholar's Program at Trition Junior College.

New Faces
In 2000, the Blue Demons welcome 10 freshmen to the roster. Tom Secco put together one of the top recruiting classes in the midwest. Among the newcomers include a number of players from the top club teams in the midwest. Travis Brown and Kevin Thibodeau were members of the Scott Gallagher Soccer Club that won the Under-18 National Championship. David Eder, Jonathan Foley and Bob Kruse won the 2000 Illinois State Cup while playing for the Windy City club team.
