Saint Louis Knocks Off DePaul, 3-0



CHICAGO – The fourth-ranked Saint Louis Billikens defeated the DePaul Blue Demons, 3-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Wish Field.  Two early Billiken scores were enough to hold of the Blue Demons.  With the loss, DePaul drops to 0-7-1 while Saint Louis improves to 7-0-0.

David Beck scored the game’s first goal in the 10th minute on a one-timer from just outside the penalty box.  Mike Hill served the ball to the right side of the field and Beck shot it past DePaul goalkeeper Jash Chavero.

At 10:42, Saint Louis scored again on a Mike Kirchhoff goal off a corner kick from Brad Davis.  The Billikens’ final score came in the 65th minute when Dipsy Selolwane beat a DePaul defender and Chavero to score his ninth goal of the season.

DePaul’s best chance for a goal came midway through second half as Luke Rojo’s header was tipped away by Saint Louis goalkeeper John Politis.  The Billikens outshot DePaul, 12-5, in the 90 minutes of play.

Up next for the Blue Demons is a road match at Cincinnati.  The Blue Demons and Bearcats kick off at 3 p.m. EST at Meyers Field.
