Men's Soccer Falls To Memphis, 3-1
The DePaul men's soccer team fell behind the Memphis Tigers, 2-0, in the first half and were unable to make up the deficit in the 3-1 loss at Wish Field. Maykel Salvatierra scored the lone Blue Demon goal in the 29th minute. The Tigers didn't waste much time as they tallied the first goal of the match at the 12:07 mark. Justin Stralka scored with a header off a throw in form Chris Schmidt. Memphis' second goal came in the 25th minute when Michael Shipman knocked in a rebound past DePaul keeper Jash Chavero. The Blue Demons got on the scoreboard in the 29th minute when Maykel Salvatierra scored his first goal of the season. Salvatierra's goal came on a free kick from 35 yards out. The scored remained at 2-1 at the end of the first half. In the second half, Memphis added a goal in the 69th minute when Nick Glaser scored off a pass from Lars Thorstensen. In the match, the Tigers outshot the Blue Demons, 15-6.
With the loss, DePaul dropped to 0-12 overall and 0-5 in Conference USA play. Their next match will be Wednesday, October 18 at Northern Illinois.
