DePaul Readies for Pair of BIG EAST Showdowns
Oct. 16, 2012
CHICAGO - After a tough road loss to Rutgers on Friday night, the DePaul men's soccer team looks to earn its first BIG EAST Conference win this week when it faces two league opponents. DePaul first matches up against Cincinnati at home at Wish Field on Wednesday before heading to Syracuse for a Saturday night contest.
The Blue Demons' first test is set for Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Lincoln Park when the Bearcats come to town. Cincinnati (5-7-3, 2-2-1 BIG EAST) is coming off a 1-0 loss to Villanova, a squad that also edged DePaul (3-9-2, 0-5-0 BIG EAST) by the same score earlier this season. The Bearcats' two conference wins this season have come against Pittsburgh and Syracuse.
DePaul is coming off an 0-1-1 week in which it tied with Valparaiso on Tuesday afternoon and fell 2-1 to Rutgers on Saturday. In the loss on Saturday, however, junior defender Jared Blincow did notch the Blue Demons' first goal of the conference season.
Following Wednesday's match against Cincinnati, DePaul heads out to Syracuse to take on the Orange. Syracuse currently holds a 10-4 mark overall this year with a 3-2 league record. Last time out, the Orange took down USF who was receiving votes in last week's NSCAA Top 25 Poll.
With the two scheduled matchups, DePaul hopes to snap its five-match winless streak overall, and five-match winless streak in conference.
