Soccer Alert: DePaul's Match vs. Villanova Postponed to 2 p.m.
ST. DAVIDS, PA. - The heavy rainfall out East left Villanova's VU Soccer Complex field completely unplayable for Saturday's originally scheduled noon kickoff against DePaul.
The game has been moved to Eastern University with a 2 p.m. (Chicago time) start. Eastern University is located at 1300 Eagle Rd., less than a 10-minute drive from Villanova.
Both DePaul (7-5-1) and Villanova (6-5-2) are in the thick of the BIG EAST Red Division playoff race. The Blue Demons enter Saturday's match with 4-3-0 conference record, good for 12 points. They are in second place behind Louisville (5-1-1 in the BIG EAST) which has 16 points. Villanova (3-3-1) is tied with St. John's for fourth place with 10 points. USF (3-2-2) is in third place with 11 points.
Should DePaul finish first or second, the Blue Demons would receive a first-round bye at the BIG EAST tournament. The top six teams qualify for the playoffs, and heading into Saturday's action, Cincinnati and Rutgers were tied for the final postseason spot with identical 3-4-0 records (nine points).
