The DePaul men's soccer team travels to DeKalb to play a mid-week match against intrastate rival Northern Illinois. The Blue Demons enter the match looking for their first victory of the season with a 0-12 record.
A QUICK LOOK AT DEPAUL
The Blue Demons are coming off a 3-1 loss against Memphis at Wish Field last Friday. Maykel Salvatierra scored the lone goal on a free kick from 35 yards out.
Since being shutout three consecutive matches, DePaul has scored six goals over the last four games. Offensively, Chris Greer and Travis Brown have three goals apiece. Greer has added three assists for a team-high nine points. Goalkeeper Jash Chavero leads Conference USA with 75 saves while allowing 3.56 goals per game. Chavero has faced 223 shots this season while the Blue Demons have tallied 123 shots.
THE NORTHERN ILLINOIS HUSKIES
Northern Illinois enters Wednesday's match with a 5-7 record. In the Mid-American Conference standings, the Huskies are fourth with a 2-2 league mark. They have lost two of their last three matches including a 2-0 defeat against Akron last Friday.
The Huskies are led by Dan Parisi with six goals and an assist while Andrew Conti and Peter Agrimson have scored twice. Goalkeepers Rasih Pala and Kurt Baumgartner have combined to allow 2.15 goals per match and 68 saves.
THE SERIES
Northern Illinois leads the all-time series, 14-0-2, with the Huskies winning the last five matches. The two teams meet for the first time since the 1998 season when Northern Illinois defeated the Blue Demons, 4-1, in DeKalb.
DOWN THE ROAD
The Blue Demons will play their final road match on Friday at Louisville. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The final three matches of the season will be at Wish Field. DePaul hosts South Florida (Oct. 25), Valparaiso (Oct. 27) and Marquette (Nov. 1).
