DePaul Readies for Regular Season Finale

CHICAGO – In conjunction with its 2012 Senior Day, the DePaul men’s soccer team welcomes USF to Wish Field on Friday afternoon for the Blue Demons’ regular season finale. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CT in Lincoln Park.
DePaul enters the match with a 3-10-3 overall record this season and an 0-6-1 mark in BIG EAST Conference action. The Bulls, on the other hand, are in search of a berth to the BIG EAST Tournament as they hold an 8-4-4 record while going 2-3-3 in league play.
Last time out, USF traveled to then No. 15 St. John’s and took a 2-1 win over the Red Storm. Sophomore Roberto Alterio leads the Bulls with five goals on the year while senior Leston Paul is USF’s leading point-getter having registered 12 points on three goals and six assists. Eric Osswald has played the majority of contests in net for the Bulls (12), accumulating a 1.08 goals-against average and a .689 save percentage.
For DePaul, senior Antonio Aguilar—one of four seniors set to be recognized on Friday—leads the Blue Demons in goals and points with five and 10, respectively. Aguilar is also ninth in the league in shots with 43 on the year.
In goal, Eric Sorby has played in all but four minutes for DePaul this season. Sorby holds a 1.80 goals-against average along with a .688 save percentage. The junior ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in total saves this year with 66, just eight behind league-leader John Fogarty of Villanova.
Following the match, four seniors are set to be recognized from the Blue Demons. Along with Aguilar, defenders Brian Schultz, Austin Toth, and midfielder David Leverentz will be acknowledged for their dedication to DePaul men’s soccer and DePaul athletics.
