Men's Soccer Tripped Up at Northern Illinois
DeKALB, Ill. – In the first of three straight road games to end the season, the DePaul men’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at Northern Illinois. It was their 12th match of the season decided by one goal.
Neither team was able to score in the first half as each team managed just two shots. Northern Illinois (12-6-0) scored the game’s only goal just under five minutes into the second half. Mike Corvo found Curt Zastrow in front of the Blue Demon net and he beat Michael Timlin at 49:51 for the eventual game-winner.
DePaul (3-12-3) used three goalkeepers in the game as Brian Allen and Lucas Zicher split the first half and Timlin played the final 45 minutes. The Huskies outshot the Blue Demons, 6-3, in the match with the DePaul keepers making two saves.
The Blue Demons finish the regular season with two Conference USA road matches at Charlotte and UAB. DePaul plays at Charlotte on Saturday evening before traveling to Birmingham for a match on Nov. 6.
