CHICAGO There were no treats for the Blue Demons in Rogers Park on Halloween as the Loyola University Chicago Ramblers struck three times in the first half for a 3-0 win over DePaul in men’s soccer action. DePaul’s three-match winning streak was snapped as the Blue Demons fell in their final non-conference game of the regular season.
Loyola (10-3-4) posted its first score in the 12th minute off a goal by Keum Sung Kim. Kim scored off a rebound and Michael Ferguson was credited with the assist at 11:13. Just over 15 minutes later, Ferguson tallied his 15th goal of the season off an assist from Kevin Harrigan at 26:37. The final goal of the first half, and match, came at 44:15 when Tim Puttkammer found the net from 10 yards off an assist from Eric Gehrig.
DePaul (10-6-0) outshot Loyola, 15-9, and took five corner kicks to just one for the Ramblers. The Blue Demons took 10 of their 15 attempts in the second half, but came up empty as Loyola keeper Brian Byrne finished the night with six saves.

With St. John’s win over the Orange on Wednesday night, the Red Storm moved into first place in the Red Division. The Blue Demons (18 pts.) are now in third behind St. John’s (20 pts.) and Louisville (19 pts.) and could finish anywhere from first to fourth in the division by the time conference play ends on Saturday night. Kickoff with Syracuse is set for 1 p.m. at Wish Field.
