Blue Demons Drop Season Finale



MEMPHIS, Tenn. - In the final match of the 2001 campaign, the men's soccer team lost at Memphis, 4-1, on Saturday evening.  With the defeat, the Blue Demons end the season at 3-13-2 overall and 2-6-2 in Conference USA play.

Memphis opened up a 3-0 advantage on a goal midway through the first half and two more scores in the 51st and 76th minutes.

Patrick Vynke scored the lone DePaul goal at 78:49 off an assist from Luke Rojo.  In the match, the Tigers outshot DePaul, 20-4,  forcing Blue Demon goalkeeper Jash Chavero to make eight saves.

The final goal of the match came with just under seven minutes left in the match as Lars Thorntensen scored his second goal for the 4-1 decision.
