Former Blue Demon Hopkins wins NASL Championship

CHICAGO - On Sunday, former DePaul men’s soccer team standout Patrick Hopkins was among the victorious celebration as the San Francisco Deltas defeated the New York Cosmos in the North American Soccer League (NASL) championship 2-0 to lift the Soccer Bowl Trophy at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco, Calif.

During the 2017 season, Hopkins appeared in 13 matches, making 10 starts.  In 977 minutes of play, Hopkins fired off three shots, recording two goals.

Prior to his time with the Deltas, Hopkins starred at center back for DePaul from 2006-09 before graduating in 2010. Before joining San Francisco, he played for the Brisbane Wolves in Australia and Ljungskile SK and IK Sirius in Sweden.

During his time with DePaul, Hopkins started 77 of the 79 matches he played, tallying 13 points on six goals and one assist.
