Former University of Iowa standout and professional tennis player, Stuart Waters has joined DePaul's men's tennis staff as a graduate assistant coach.
"I can't tell you how happy and fortunate we are to welcome Stuart into the DePaul Family," head coach Matt Brothers said.
"His experience as both a top collegiate player and successful professional coupled with his most recent work in player development are going to make an immediate impact on the program."
Waters will assist Coach Brothers in recruiting, match preparations and the overall player development of DePaul's student-athletes.
Waters finished his collegiate playing days in 2003 at Iowa where he played in the No. 1 singles and doubles positions. He was also an all-BIG Ten performer in his final two seasons as a Hawkeye.
With his collegiate days behind him, Waters played professionally from 2003-06 and achieved World ATP singles and doubles rankings.
In 2006, Waters was named the general manger and director of tennis at the Jayhawk Tennis Center on Kansas University's campus. Waters was the facilities first general manager and helped build its membership to over 400. While working at the Jayhawk Tennis Center he also assisted with the Kansas women's tennis team.
After a two year stint at Kansas, Waters was named the academy director at the Overland Park Racquet Club in Kansas City, Mo. in 2008. He grew the program to over 100 aspiring collegiate players and also coached several division I athletes and professional players.
Originally from Omaha, Neb., Waters is enrolled in DePaul's Kellstadt School of Business and is pursuing his MBA in finance.
