DePaul improves to 3-1 on season, hosts Dartmouth on Jan. 28 at the Lakeshore Athletic Club

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Led by seniors, Ben Hartman and Bartosz Jozwiak, the DePaul men’s tennis team took a thrilling 5-2 win over Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Saturday at New Mexico’s Linda Estes Tennis Complex.
The Blue Demons set the tone of the match by winning the doubles point with victories on the second and third courts. Filip Dzanko and Hartman improved to 3-0 on the season and evened the doubles score with an 8-3 win over Gergo Windinger and Alex Pavlov on the third court.
Matija Palinic and George Chanturia followed and clinched the point for the DePaul on the second court. The pair gutted out an exciting 8-5 victory over Robert Raguz and Nathan Robinson for their ninth win of the season.
Heading into singles play, DePaul needed three victories to seal the dual and Sven Kasper, Jozwiak and Palinic did just that with wins on the first, fourth and second courts.
Jozwiak was the first to claim victory when he topped Aurelien Tave 7-6 (5), 6-1 in the fourth position. Palinic, who improved to 9-4 on the season, followed with a 7-6 (5), 6-4 win over James Lanford on the second court.
With DePaul able to clinch the win and four courts still in action, newcomer Sven Kasper used three sets to claim a 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (4) win Laurent Montoisy in the number one spot. Kasper improves to 8-7 on the season while the sophomore is 3-1 in the top spot of the lineup.
The Blue Demons return home and host Dartmouth on Friday, Jan. 28. The dual at the Lakeshore Athletic Club is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
