Men's Tennis Comes Up Short Against UTSA

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- The DePaul men's tennis team concluded its stay at the HEB Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, with a 4-3 loss to UT-San Antonio.
The Blue Demons fell to 2-8 with the loss, while the Roadrunners improved to 4-9.
DePaul dropped the doubles point, losing two out of three matches to start the day. However, the Blue Demons did get a win out of Filip Dzanko and David Vieyra in the No. 1 match. DePaul lost the No. 2 and No. 3 matches in tiebreakers.
In singles, play, DePaul picked up three wins by Joshua Schramm, Kyle Johnson and Tim Corwin in the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 matches, respectively. Schramm topped Diogo Casa, 2-6, 6-1, 6-4, Johnson handled Harley Pearson, 6-3, 6-1, and Corwin beat Boburjon Kamiljanov, 7-5, 6-4.
DePaul's next match will take place on March 5 in West Lafayette, Ind., against Purdue University. The match will be televised on ESPN3. Coverage begins at 3 p.m.
