DePaul Falls in Semis of the MTSU Shootout

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- In a match originally scheduled for early Saturday afternoon, the DePaul men's tennis team fell to South Alabama in the wee hours of Sunday morning in the Semifinals of the MTSU Shootout.

The match was delayed over six hours before finally ending in favor of South Alabama. The 4-3 defeat moved DePaul's overall record to 7-10.

Filip Dzanko, Sten Leusink and Paul John were responsible for the Blue Demons' three points of the day, each posting victories in singles play.

Dzanko defeated Daniel Leitner in the No. 1 match, 6-5 (3), 6-5 (5), Leusink beat Manuel Belda at No. 2 singles, 6-5 (5), 6-2, and John registered a win at No. 6 singles, handling Quincy Olij, 6-3, 6-2.

The loss snapped the Blue Demons five-match win streak.

DePaul concludes it's stay in Tennessee today in the tournament's third-place match.
