Blue Demon Men's Tennis Ends Eighth at MT Shootout
March 31, 2013
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Junior Filip Dzanko picked up his first singles victory of the weekend at the top spot in the order, but could not lift the DePaul men's tennis team to a win in its final match at the MT Shootout as DePaul fell 4-1 to Florida Atlantic on Sunday at the Buck Bouldin and Old Fort Tennis Centers.
With the setback, DePaul drops to 4-14 in dual match play and finishes the tournament in eighth-place overall. Florida Atlantic improved to 6-13 during its spring schedule.
Dzanko, who has now won five-of-seven at first singles, started off the Blue Demon lineup by dispatching FAU's Jose Fantova, 7-5, 6-3. The Blue Demons were swept in the remaining matches, however, as FAU clinched the contest at fifth singles in a third-set tiebreaker.
Next up for DePaul will be its final home match when the Blue Demons return to Lakeshore Sport & Fitness on Saturday, April 6 to face IUPUI. First serve is set for 3:00 p.m. CT.
