DePaul Drops Match to Rival Marquette, 5-2

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. - DePaul men's tennis got wins from the five and six spots, but it wasn't enough as the Blue Demons dropped a 5-2 match to home-standing Marquette on Friday at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
With the loss, DePaul fell to 5-16 in dual match play. Marquette improved to 12-11 and 10-3 on its home court.
The Golden Eagles got on the board first, winning the doubles point by taking two-of-three matches.
In singles play, Marquette took points in the top four singles matches to clinch the win.
The Blue Demons countered with wins at the fifth and sixth positions from a pair of freshmen.
At the five, Kyle Johnson won his second consecutive match over Gleb Skylr in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2.
Paul John, competing at the sixth position, also won for the second straight match defeating David Packowitz by a score of 6-3, 6-4.
DePaul will return to the courts for the 2013 BIG EAST Men's Tennis Championship hosted by Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. from Thursday, April 18 through Saturday, April, 21. Matchups and times will be announced at a later date.
