TAMPA, Fla. -- The DePaul men’s tennis team’s season came to a close when weather halted the BIG EAST Championship on Saturday on the campus of USF.  The fifth-seeded Blue Demons were scheduled to play eighth-seeded Villanova in the consolation bracket, but storms delayed and ultimately canceled the match.

The Blue Demons finish their season 11-15 and played 12 ranked teams during one of the program’s toughest schedules to date.  DePaul ranked as high as No. 66 in the Campbell’s/ITA Team rankings while the team tallied 119 singles victories.

Led by sophomore Filip Dzanko’s 28-10 singles mark, senior George Chanturia also eclipsed the 20-win plateau during his final campaign in a Blue Demon uniform.  In his two seasons with DePaul, Chanturia compiled a 47-24 singles record while he was 34-29 in doubles action.

Today’s cancelation also ended the careers of Matija Palinic and Sven Kasper.  Palinic, who played four seasons in Lincoln Park, tallied 59 singles and 39 doubles victories.  Kasper, who joined DePaul last season combined for 72 total wins.
