Men's Tennis Wins Second Straight, Tops Chicago State

CHICAGO – The No. 60 DePaul men’s tennis team overpowered Chicago State 6-0 on Saturday at the Chicago State Tennis Facility. The win was the Blue Demons second straight and the squad finishes their regular season with a 16-8 record while Chicago State falls to 0-18. The Blue Demons dominated the match from the first serve and won all but 20 games. Filip Dzanko swept his singles match in the straight sets, while Matija Palinic dropped just one game for a 6-0, 6-1 victory in the third spot The Blue Demons won both doubles matches – the third doubles match was not played. George Chanturia and Ben Hartman did not lose a game to Viet Lama and Face Regus on the second court and were the first off the courts. Bartosz Jozwiak and Sven Kasper followed with their 24th doubles win of the season on the first court. Jozwiak and Kasper topped Ankit Chopra and Armaan Choudhary 8-4. Moving into singles action, the Blue Demons continued to dominate. Mathias Hambach topped Michael Chew 6-1, 6-2 on the fifth court. Palinic and Dzanko followed with their respective victories which secured DePaul’s 16th win of the season. With the match in hand, Kasper topped Chopra 6-1, 6-3 and Chanturia won his match against Armaan Choudhary 6-3, 7-5. The Blue Demons await the BIG EAST Conference Championship seeds on Monday, April 25. The league’s championship will be played in South Bend, Ind., with the first round beginning on Thursday, April 28 and the championship being played on Sunday, May 1.
