WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The DePaul men’s tennis team started its 2010-11 season with a perfect 12-0 record on Friday at the Purdue Fall Invitational.  The Blue Demons posted six singles and six doubles victories in their first tournament of the season.

In Flight A singles action, Mathias Hambach dominated Iowa’s Austen Kauss 6-1, 6-3 while newcomer Sven Kasper took a 6-4, 6-1 victory from Valparaiso’s Guto Gasper.  Ben Hartman won by default as his opponent from Notre Dame was a no show. 

In Flight B singles play, Bartosz Jozwiak and George Chanturia mirrored the A Flight’s success, with a pair of two-set victories.  Jozwiak defeated Morehead States’ Nathan Martin 6-4, 6-2 while Chanturia won his first match in a DePaul uniform, 6-3, 7-5 over Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Craig Cox.

Matija Palinic kept DePaul perfect, with an impressive 7-5, 6-2 win over Bennis Benalcazar from Dayton in the singles C Flight .

In doubles action, the Blue Demons continued to play well in both the A and B flights. In A Flight action,  Kasper and Jozwiak teamed-up for a 8-2 victory in the opening round before advancing to the quarterfinals with an 8-5 victory over Iowa’s Marc Bruche and Nikita Zotov.

Hartman and Hambach also move into the quarterfinals of the A Flight with an 8-5 victory over a pair from Morehead State in the opening round before topping Rohan Patel and Richard Brunsting from Case Western 8-4 in the second round.

Chanturia and Palinic also advanced to the quarterfinals with a pair of victories in the B Flight.  The Blue Demon pair topped Adam Whitmer and Kevin deHerrea 8-4 before taking an 8-4 victory from the Case Western tandem of Sean Carr and Ryan Haines.

The Blue Demons return to action on Saturday at 8 a.m.
