Junior Matija Palinic battled in the semifinals of the C Singles Flight on Sunday

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The DePaul men’s tennis team closed out the Purdue Fall Invitational on Sunday at the Schwartz Tennis Center. Junior Matija Palinic was the lone Blue Demon left on the court and battled in the semifinals of the C Singles Flight.
With his teammates cheering him on Palinic took the first set from Southern Illinois’ Falk Debeenhouwer 7¬-5 but was unable to seal the victory – dropping the second set 6-3 and then the tiebreaker 10-7. Sunday’s match was Palinic’s fourth singles match of the weekend, while he already won the doubles B Flight with teammate George Chanturia on Saturday.
The Blue Demons had a strong showing in their initial fall tournament of the season, compiling a 7-4 singles record and went 8-2 in doubles action.
DePaul breaks from action until Oct. 15-17 when it travels to Evanston, Ill. for the Northwestern Invitational.
