DePaul Men's Tennis Splits Friday Between HEB, Purdue Fall Invitationals

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The majority of the DePaul men's tennis team spent its Friday at the Purdue Fall Invitational, and the Blue Demons came away 4-1 in singles play and split a pair of doubles competitions.
In doubles, Leusink and John paired together for the first time this fall and defeated Patrick Bandy and Adam Krull from Xavier University 8-5.
Moving to singles, Johnson defeated Toledo's Roberto Meza 7-6 (6), 6-3 to improve to 3-1 on the fall. Leusink followed with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 win over Valpo's Michael Baiocchi. Reinhart defeated Butler's Andres Maynez by the same score. In the Demons' final singles event of the day, John took down IUPUI's Armaan Choudhary 6-1, 6-3.
WACO, Texas - While the rest of the squad competed at Purdue, the Blue Demons sent junior Filip Dzanko and senior Mathias Hambach to Baylor's HEB Invitational, where the pair participated in four singles matches combined and a pair of doubles matches.
Dzanko, fresh off a singles title at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic last weekend, kept his unbeaten streak alive and moved to 5-0 on the fall with a pair of wins. The junior advanced in the first round, dropping the first set before recovering to dominate Southern Mississipi's Inaki Belloso 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 and moved onto the round of 16 tomorrow with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 defeat of UT-Pan American's Chetan Panditi.
Hambach dropped his first match, but picked up a win in the consolation bracket when Baylor's Robbie Korth withdrew from competition.
In doubles, Hambach and Dzanko teamed up for a pair of wins and are now 2-1 on the fall as a twosome. The first came when a pair from Louisiana-Lafayette withdrew due to injury and the second came in an 8-2 decision over UTPA's Felix Hasselberg and Alejandro Sanoja.
