Blue Demons Take Home Hardware on Final Day of Purdue Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The DePaul men's tennis team wrapped up their three-day stay at the Purdue Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
David Vieyra and Filip Dzanko, the top seed in the Flight A doubles bracket, won the draw by defeating No. 3 seed Chris Simich and Luis Elizondo of Louisville, 9-7, in the championship match. In the consolation draw of the Flight A pool, Paul John and Jan-Willem Feilzer were crowned champions after outlasting Iowa's Michael Swank and Joey White, 9-8 (7-3).
In singles, Vieyra dropped a three-set match to eventual Flight A champion Nadin Indre in the semifinals while Adam Reinhart advanced to the Flight C championship match by defeating Ricardo Pineda, 6-3, 6-0, before losing to Toledo's Nicky Wong, 7-6 (4), 6-2, in the finals.
The Purdue Invitational was the first of five fall tournaments for the Blue Demons in 2013. Next week (Sept. 28), DePaul heads to Tulsa, Okla., for the ITA All-Americans.
