Johnson in Semifinals as Blue Demons Continue Play at HEB, Purdue Tourneys

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Freshman Kyle Johnson advanced to the Flight B singles semifinal draw with a pair of wins as the DePaul men's tennis team cruised through day two at the Purdue Invitational on Saturday, September 22. Johnson defeated Cleveland State's Ali Shabib 7-6 (4), 6-3 and Xavier's Phil Diaz 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 to reach the semis and improve to 5-1 in singles play. Sophomore Adam Reinhart also picked up a 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 win over IUPUI's Jacob Bradley in the Flight C draw before bowing out in the quarterfinals. Reinhard and Johnson, also playing doubles together, reached the finals of the Flight B consolation bracket with a 8-3 decision against IPFW's tandem of Jeremy Depree and Eduardo Sztrajtman. At the HEB Invitational in Waco, Texas, junior Filip Dzanko saw a five-match win streak come to a close in the round of 16 at the HEB Invitational. Purdue Invitational - Day Two Singles Results
