MUNCIE, Ind. - David Vieyra and Paul Johnadvanced to the finals of the Flight A doubles draw as DePaul men's tennis continued its weekend action at the 35th annual Ball State Invitational on Saturday at Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.

Teaming up to defeat Patrick Elliott and Ray Leonard of the hosting Cardinals, 8-6, John and Vieyra went to 2-0 on the weekend as a tandem.

In singles play, both Blue Demons to advance to the quarterfinals in Flight A dropped their matches on Saturday, but Filip Dzankopicked up two wins in the back draw of the same flight.

The senior took down Akshay Verma of IUPUI in his first match of the day, 6-3, 6-1, before defeating Butler's Alex Woldmoe 6-2, 6-4 to reach the consolation finals.

He will meet Nico Kastunowicz from the University of Indianapolis tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. to cap the weekend.

Jan-Willem Feilzeralso picked up a win in the consolation bracket of Flight A, taking down Sergiu Muresan of Chicago State, 7-6(4), 6-2.

In the Flight B consolation bracket, it will be an all-DePaul final as sophomore Paul John and freshman Tim Corwinboth notched a pair of wins on Saturday.

In his opening match of the day, John defeated Karl Wangensten-Oye of IPFW in a tie-breaker, 3-6, 6-2, 1-0(10). It was much smoother in the afternoon, as John went to 2-0 on the day with a straight set win over Austin Rudell of UI, 6-2, 6-1.

John's finals competition, Corwin began his day with a straight set win over Jacob Bradley of IUPUI, 6-1, 6-3. In his afternoon match, the freshman defeated UI's Luke Hubert 6-3, 6-2.

Corwin and John will meet on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. as play gets underway on the final day of the tournament.
