Zador Tops Tuff in All-DePaul Title Match

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No matter the outcome on Sunday, DePaul was going to come away with a championship.

That was the scene as Tamas Zador and Tripp Tuff faced each other in the C Division title match at the Louisville Fall Invitational.

In the end, Zador walked off the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center court with a 7-6, 6-1 victory over his Blue Demon teammate.

That completed a terrific three-day run for Zador who went 4-0 for the weekend and improved his record on the season to 6-1.

Tuff also had a successful run at Louisville with a 4-1 mark and is 5-3 in singles play this season.

In doubles, Christopher Casati and Fran Tonejc advanced to the B Division semifinals before being edged 8-7 by Jorge Ortegon and Daniel Cardenas of Lipscomb. Ortegon and Cardenas went on to win the doubles title with an 8-3 victory over Param Pun and Fernando Nardelli of Wright State.

The Blue Demons have a short turnaround, opening play Thursday at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships at Ann Arbor, Mich.
