Men's Tennis Opens Play at USTA/ITA Midwest Regionals
Freshman Sten Leusink won a pair of three-setters to play for a chance to enter the main draw.

Qualifying Draws Get Acrobat Reader

EAST LANSING, Mich. - DePaul men's tennis has two alive in the qualifiers after a successful first day at the USTA/ITA Midwest Regionals on Thursday at the Michigan State University Indoor Tennis Facility.

The singles main draw kicks off Friday, October 19 and freshman Sten Leusink and sophomore Adam Reinhart will be battling to be a part of it.

Reinhart advance through two opponents, first coming back to beat Marquette's David Packowitz 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. In his second match of the day, the sophomore defeated Spencer Talmadge of Notre Dame in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.

Leusink played three sets with both opponents, but came away with hard-fought wins in both matches. In his first match, the freshman defeated Michigan State's Harry Jadun 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 (5) before taking down Cleveland State's Joe VanMeter 6-4, 4-6, 7-6.

Leusink will face Alan Reifer of UIC for the right to advance to the main draw, while Reinhart gets Wisconsin's Oskar Wikberg. Both matches will occur at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, October 19.
