CHICAGO – DePaul head men’s tennis coach Matt Brothers has announced the signing of Glencoe, Ill., native Alex Galoustian.

Galoustian, a product of New Trier High School, is a four-star recruit by TennisRecruiting.net and is ranked No. 6 in the state of Illinois and No. 101 nationally. He signed a National Letter of Intent with DePaul in November.

"We couldn’t be more excited about welcoming Alex into the Blue Demon family," Brothers said. "He is going to be a great fit for our program both on and off the court and we feel very strongly that, with his tremendous skills and work ethic, he can have an immediate impact on our team."

Galoustian was a member of the New Trier tennis team that captured the Illinois High School State Championship in 2011. In 2012, he placed seventh individually at the state championships while the Trevians took seventh. In 2013, Galoustian captured the Midwest Open crown.

"We are very excited about Alex," said assistant coach Artem Iliushin. "He has a lot of potential as a player and exceptional work ethic, which is what we look for when we recruit."

Galoustian will join the Blue Demons in August for the 2014-15 season.

The Blue Demons resume their 2013-14 campaign on Jan. 17 when they play UIC to open up match play. Match time at Lakeshore Sport and Fitness Club is slated for 6 p.m.
