CHICAGO - The No. 68 DePaul men's tennis team begins it 2012 season by hosting UIC and Detroit on Saturday at the Lakeshore Athletic Club on the corner of Lakewood and Fullerton.  The doubleheader dual begins at 2 p.m. when the Blue Demons clash with the Flames before the Titans hit the courts at 6 p.m.

"We are very excited to start the 2012 season in the rankings," DePaul head coach Matt Brothers said after his team combined for 57 wins during the fall schedule.

"We reached a program-high No. 47 last season and are looking to eclipse that mark this year."

"Obviously scheduling has everything to do with reaching this goal and we feel with at least 10 ranked teams on our schedule this year, it is the strongest it has ever been."

Brothers has put together a difficult slate for his team which was led by George Chanturia and Filip Dzanko in the Fall.  Both Chanturia and Dzanko registered 10 singles victories and reached the second round of the ITA Midwest Regional.

Chanturia went 10-2 in the Fall and won the Purdue Invitational A Flight as well as the A Flight at Northwestern's Wildcat Invitational.  Dzanko put together a 10-5 mark in singles and reached the third round of the prequalifying bracket at the ITA All-American Championships.

"Our first opportunity to make a jump in the rankings will come against Purdue," Brothers added of his team's fourth opponent which is slated to hit the Lakeshore courts on Jan. 22.  "We hope to have a large crowd out for that match which will really help the guys on the court."   DePaul's match with Purdue is set to begin at 1 p.m.

Before the Boilermakers come to town on the 22nd, the Blue Demons will tangle with Toledo on Jan. 20 at 7 p.m.
